Sony VAIO Tap 20 Information
The Sony VAIO Tap 20 (SVJ20215CXW) ($ 999.99 list) is a full touch screen PC all-in-one desktop with a little portability mixed in. For 99 percent of its use, you'll be sitting in front of Sony VAIO Press 20 as if it was another mid-range PC all-in-one desktop. For the other 1 percent of the time, you can unplug the system, and will continue to remain on and connected while you walk on the system in another room, then plug it back in. Do the Tap VAIO 20 as a transportable all - in-one desktop that you do not have the power to move downward. Sony VAIO will give you a small reserve of power when it is disconnected, but the Sony VAIO it really designed to be connected to a power cord at all times. It is not anywhere near a "must buy" point at this time, but Sony VAIO works well enough that early adopters might want to give the new form factor and operating system a try. At the very least Sony VAIO will help you get used to using the touch interface Windows 8, while continuing to support older programs that you have purchased for your Windows 7 or Windows XP PC.
Sony VAIO Tab 20 Design Information
From forward, the Sony VAIO Tap 20 is like a super sized tablet with a 1-inch thick black bezel surrounding the bright massive 20-inch display. A 1.3 pixel webcam is located just above the screen in the middle, flanked on the right by LEDs for wireless, processor usage battery life, and power, and left a silver Sony logo. A Windows 8 button (which takes you to the home screen when pressed) is at the bottom of the screen in the middle.
The rear Sony VAIO Tap 20, which tapers gradually from the center to the edges, this white plastic finish reminiscent of Sony VAIO S Series (all-black option is also available). Speaker grilles, each of which represents about two-thirds the length of the screen, running along the top and bottom, and grooves cut into the flat elegant house design tapered Sony VAIO Tap 20 years limited selection of ports. A flat screen in the center can be removed to expose the battery, and is bordered on the left and right hinges by folding aluminum stand. VAIO Assist auto-rotate, volume and power running on the top right edge.
The Sony VAIO Designed to be carried in the house from one room to another - but no further - the 19.9 x 12.0 x 1.8 inches, 11.2 pounds tap 20 has a number of mobile features, including an integrated 5000 mAh lithium-ion battery, a stand that can fold flat against the back of the computer, and a weight that is less than half that of traditional all-in-one computers. However, the valve 20 still feels quite heavy, and we cannot imagine most users want to drag this all-in-one around often. Just in case you take this device on the road, however, Sony has a carrying size for $ 59.
Sustainability features include shock sensors to protect the hard drive against sudden drops and splash resistant screen. Whereas the tap 20 is designed to be used by the whole family, but we would have appreciated a few more robust features like a Gorilla Glass screen.
Keyboard and Mouse
Like Windows8 machines, the faucet features of 20 Sony VAIO is screen keyboard which can be accessed via a button in the taskbar. The Sony VAIO keyboard design is reminiscent of those Android devices, with large gray buttons on a black background. The keys are large enough for the 20-inch all-in-one screen to type clarification, but it is not particularly fast experience.
If you are not a fan of the traditional layout, the keyboard can be changed to a split-screen configuration, with half of the keys on the left side of the screen and the other half on the right, but unfortunately, we found the keys in this mode too small to use. For those who prefer the elegant calligraphy, Windows 8 might as well translate handwriting to text (although a capacitive pen is not included with the Sony VAIO Tap 20).
Fortunately, Sony VAIO does not expect users to compose documents with capacitive touch screen alone. The valve 20 is supplied with a battery-powered wireless keyboard and mouse, both of which have the same design as all white on the back of the unit. The island-style keyboard, although small, manages to fit in a dedicated number pad, as well as discrete keys for sleep, volume and mute. Keys provide enough tactile feedback for typing a pleasure. Mouse as the keyboard seems a bit too narrow. Nevertheless, the mouse buttons and the wheel turned and offered a significant amount of feedback when pressed pleasant.
Acoustic
Although never more than 1.8 mm at its thickness point, the valve 20 is able to squeeze quite powerful speakers (located in the grid along the bottom of the computer) and a subwoofer (in grid upwards). At maximum volume, the score beating Daft Punk "Tron: Legacy" filled the room but managed to maintain its accuracy. Subtle works such as "living legend" Kris Kristofferson sounded equally impressive, and we could easily discern the peaks of the mandolin singing from the hollow bass.
The Sony VAIO Tab valve 20 is supplied with three audio presets: Clearaudio +, S-FORCE Front Surround 3D and Dolby Home Theater v4. Out of the three, we found that only Clearaudio + comes sound. Activation of S-FORCE Front Surround 3D audio muffled, while Dolby Home Theater v4 increased the maximum volume causes music sounds hard and irregular.
Windows 8 Experience
Many people, buying Sony VAIO Tab 20 will mark their first encounter with the operating system Windows 8 again. Microsoft Windows 8 is optimized for touch, andSony VAIO Tab 20 works wonders on tap 20 of the touch interface 10 points. The first thing users see when they open the Sony VAIO Tab 20 is the new user interface Windows 8. This tile-based user interface, the most obvious difference between Windows 7 and 8, sits atop the traditional windowed desktop that Windows users have become accustomed to over the years. From the home screen, you can launch applications by typing on their respective tiles, or open a complete list of applications either by dragging down from the top of the screen or from the bottom. To close an open application, drag or slide the top of the screen down.
You can scroll through open apps by swiping your finger on the left side of the screen to the center. Perform the same action while keeping your finger on the application; you can open two applications simultaneously in split screen mode. Swipe your finger across the right side of the screen to open the menu Charms center, from which you can return to the home screen, search for programs and files, share content, connect to peripherals and adjust the settings. Settings sub menu contains options to manage the wireless settings, adjust the volume, hide notifications, keyboard mode switch and turn off or restart the PC, but you will need to use the control panel in desktop mode to access other parameters.
In Sony VAIO you can add other applications to the home screen by downloading them from the Microsoft Store Windows - just tap the tile that is labeled "Save". At present, the selection of apps for games (518 apps), entertainment (287 apps), and music and video (92 applications) is very limited compared to the hundreds of thousands of applications available for Android and iOS, but Microsoft is actively recruiting developers to create applications for Windows 8.
One way or another, however, you'll eventually have to browse in desktop mode. The Windows 8 desktop looks identical to its predecessor in Windows 7, with an obvious difference - there is no Start menu. New users will probably find this abhorrent, that the opening of new applications requires you to return to the startup screen (either by dragging the right side of the screen and selecting the Start button or pressing the Windows key on the screen or keyboard). Moreover, in the time that we spent with Windows 8 on small tablets, trying to tap small icons on the desktop can become a major pain.
Thank you for its huge 20-inch screen, however, flicking application to application with fingers soon became a joy when browsing in desktop mode luckily avoided becoming a finger pricking exercise in frustration. Touch such as pinch-to-zoom, rotate, two-finger scrolling worked reliably, and quickly changed the accelerometer screen orientation when we switched from landscape to portrait mode (not that you do this very often).
Software Information
as might be expected for such a unique product, the Sony VAIO tap 20 provided with a number of family applications designed to take advantage of all-in-one 20-inch touch screen 10 points. Art Rage Studio Pro allows users to paint with your fingers or with a brush capacitive. Even though it is not as robust as Adobe Photoshop software (worth $ 60) allows users to choose from a wide range of brushes and paint types (such as oils and pastels) and offers a wide range colors. Art Rage Studio Pro also includes tools of artists, including the ability to save strokes, making it ideal for painting and teaching drawing techniques. We found the program very sensitive to contact with us, and after a few minutes of experimenting with different brushes, thickness and opacity, we were far doodling. Playing with Art Rage Studio Pro made us miss a capacitive pen even more, however.
Painting family, an oriented application for children, allows two users to draw side-by-side images. Each user can choose from a variety of colored pencils, crayons and markers, and draw or erase his photo without affecting the other art. Art Rage Studio Pro as we found paint our family very sensitive to touch (and unlike other programs, we draw with 10 fingers simultaneously). In addition, it was easy to play with the painting of the family, even when the computer was lying flat, with wide viewing angles offered by the valve 20 IPS display.
Click organizer functions as a digital calendar Enlarge Fingertip’s for the whole family. The utility allows multiple independent users to create tasks and task lists on the same schedule and leave sticky notes, drawings and voice messages for family members.Creating a new note with text and audio was very simple: We have to choose ourselves as a user, press the microphone button to start recording, then use our finger to scribble a message forward of us. In a few seconds, the note appeared on the main screen.
Sony Music and Sony albums, though still in beta, the function to a player, organize store music and movies. The full version of the applications use DLNA, which means that you will be able to stream content on tap 20 from other DLNA-compatible devices. In addition to the standard Windows 8 applications such as Mail, Calendar, Messaging and popular, some of Microsoft and third party applications have been pre-installed on the valve 20, as well, including Skype, Hulu Plus and Kaspersky antivirus .
Sony VAIO Tab 20 Ports and Webcam Quality
Tap Sony VAIO Tab 20 has a very limited selection of ports. On the left side, the device has a dual Memory Stick / SD card reader, two USB 3.0 ports, a headphone jack and a microphone jack. An Ethernet port and the AC port are located on the right side.
Damage the HDMI and VGA ports have been excluded from the design. Given the size of the screen, preventing users to watch movies or play games on HDMI seems like a waste. The valve 20 also lacks an optical drive, but seeing as many movies users’ streams and music through services like Netflix and Spotify, we're ready to forgive his exclusion.
Almost as disappointing as the selection valve port 20 was its front 1.2 megapixels. Although color stills and 720p videos looked bright and vibrant images captured seemed extremely grainy view in full screen mode. Fortunately, the camera showed no lag when recording either stills or video.
Sony VAIO Tab 20 Graphics performance
Powered by an Intel HD Graphics 4000 chip, the Sony VAIO Tab 20 does not support the graphics power for casual games such as "World of War craft", 3DMark 11benchmark, which measures overall graphics performance, the valve 20 turned into twenty meager 569. The average score for widescreen laptop is 3219, although most of these machines are equipped with a separate graphics card.
Not surprisingly, this translates into low scores in stuttering frame rate. When we ran "World of War craft" with graphics set to Good and the resolution to 1600 x 900, the valve 20 on average about 22 fps unplayable. When we cranked the ultra graphics, the frame ratedropped to 12 fps slow hesitant.
Heat
The Sony VAIO Tab 20 is kept cool throughout our tests. After streaming video on Hulu for 15 minutes, the touch screen and the rear of the machine measured at 82 degrees Fahrenheit cooler. The hottest spot we found on the all-in-one at the top of the screen in the middle, which recorded a 90 degrees hot.
Sony VAIO Tab 20 Battery Quality
although it lasts less than half the time on a charge most tablets, we were nevertheless impressed by the VAIO Tap 20 years battery life considering its screen size. On the test laptop battery (continuous surfing the web on Wi-Fi), the valve 20 of 5000 m Ah lithium-ion battery was able to last for 3 hours and 50 minutes. The execution is just 3 minutes shy of the average desktop replacement.
Configurations
In addition to our configuration, which featured a Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 750 GB hard drive, the VAIO Tap 20 can be upgraded with a Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD or 512 GB for the budget-minded, the valve 20 may also be equipped with a Core i3 processor and a cheaper 500 GB hard drive.
